Paryaya: Pura Pravesha of Pejawar seer today

The district administration has made all preparations for the Paryaya Mahotsava of Pejawar Adhokshaja Mutt seer Vishwesha Theertha Swami, District In-charge Minister Vinay Kumar Sorake said.

The seer will ascend the Paryaya Sarvajna Peetha for the fifth time.

Speaking at a meeting convened to discuss the preparations for the Paryaya festival, he said that he will appeal to Transport Minister Ramalinga Reddy to run additional buses between Bengaluru and Udupi for the event. Chief Minister Siddaramaih will be invited for the festivity, he added.

Deputy Commissioner Dr R Vishal said that Superintendent of Police Annamalai has taken the responsibility of traffic and security. A micro plan has been prepared to provide security. The ongoing Udupi Utsava will be suspended from January 16 to 19 to give way for parking of vehicles, he said.

Dr Vishal said that he has directed CMC commissioner to make arrangements for supply of drinking water and also ensure cleanliness in the city. Mobile toilets, in addition to 26 new toilets, have been constructed. The Health Department will have its mobile clinic in and around Puthige Mutt, Rajangann and Jodukatte. A number of stalls will be installed at Board High School, he added.

Civic reception
A civic reception will be held for the seer as part of the Pura Pravesha of Pejawar seer on January 4, Paryaya Mahotsava Welcome Committee General Secretary Rathnakumar said.

Speaking at a press conference, he said the seer will be taken out in a procession to the mutt. As many as 34 folk art teams will take part in the procession. The road connecting Kalsanka to Vadiraja Road here will be named after the seer. An official announcement will be made during the civic reception for the seer by the Udupi City Municipal Council (CMC). A special postal stamp will be released on the occasion, he added.

The ‘Hore Kanike’ programme for the Paryaya will be held between January 5 and 16. The devotees of Lord Krishna from Yadgir, Ballari, Raichur and  Kalburgi districts will offer ‘Hore Kanike’ on January 13. A number of cultural programmes will be held at Poornaprajna Mantapa and Adhokshaja Mantapa everyday from 5.30 pm between January 14 and 17.
