“On Wednesday around 8 pm, three motorcycle-borne men entered the residential complex and stopped their bike in front of the house of Assistant Superintendent of Jail no.3 Niranjan Dahiya,” said Pushpendra Kumar, Deputy Commissioner of Police (West).

“One of the men then went at the door of the house, while two of them stayed near the motorcycle. The man rang the doorbell and Dahiya’s wife came out. The man then expressed his desire to meet her son Virendra,” he added.

Virendra was having his dinner. His mother assured the man that Virendra would meet him after he finishes his food.

Five minutes after Virendra came out of his house to meet the three men, his mother heard a bullet noise. Then, an injured Virendra arrived at the doorsteps of his house with bullet injury on his back.

After few minutes, the CRPF guards manning the gates of the residential complex, also came running. However, the assailants had fled the area.

A call to the police was made and the victim taken to the nearby hospital.

“He was taken to Deen Dayal Upadhyaya hospital, where doctors managed to take out the bullet from his back after an operation. His condition is said to be stable now, and he is out of danger,” the police added.
