Palike forms task force on advertisement policy

The Bruhat Bengaluru Mahanagara Palike has constituted a task force headed by its commissioner Kumar Naik to come out with a new advertising policy.

The committee has been tasked with examining the advertising policies in other metropolitan cities and give suggestions for drafting new advertisement byelaws, tax slabs etc.

The Palike, in a press release issued on Friday, said that the present advertising policy of the Palike was based on the advertisement byelaws of 2006 and there was a need to revise the policy. The committee comprises chairperson of the Palike committee on taxation and finance, M Sivaraju and corporators M K Gunashekhkar, Manjunatha Raju, representatives from government agencies such BMRCL, City police and the officials of the Palike.

The task force members have to submit their suggestions within 90 days from January 8. The press release stated flex banners and advertisements have vast potential of generating resource for the Palike and the issue of advertisement tax should be addressed through a transparent policy.
