120 riders fined for not wearing helmets

The Police Department has imposed penalty on more than 120 two-wheeler riders for not wearing helmets on Wednesday.

The two-wheeler riders who were riding without wearing helmets had a tough time in the town. The police personnel had been issuing warnings to riders for the last one week to wear helmets.

The police, under the leadership of Circle Inspector Jagadish, conducted the inspection drive for more than one hour on College Road. On the first day, the two-wheeler riders were fined and pillion riders were warned to wear helmets. The police fined over 10 persons at Lions Circle and directed the two-wheeler riders to follow the rules. Over 30 riders were fined in Mudigere town police station limits and over 50 were fined in Aldoor police station limits. The police penalised two-wheeler riders in Banakal and Baloor police station limits as well.

A few riders were seen changing their routes on finding the police checking the riders.
On the other hand, there was a huge and urgent rush for the purchase of helmets in shops. Two-wheeler riders felt that fake ISI mark helmets were sold in the market and the price of helmets has increased drastically.
