According to police, the deceased is Suvin S, 18, and the injured are Syed Sameer and Fayaz. Suvin, a native of Kerala, was residing in Bellandur with his father, Sukumar, a bakery owner.

Sameer and Fayaz are both residents of Jayanagar. They were classmates studying pre-university in Jain College in Jayanagar.

In the early hours of Monday, the trio headed to Nandi Hills to watch the sunrise in Sameer’s uncle’s car. Around 8.45 am, they were on their way home near the Border Security Force (BSF) premises at Hunasamaranahalli Junction. Sameer, who was driving, lost control over the car and rammed into the median and hit an electricity pole.

The vehicle crossed over the median and was hit by two other cars heading towards the Kempegowda International Airport, said the police.

Due to the impact of the collision, Suvin, who was sitting next to the driver’s seat, died on the spot. Sameer and Fayaz suffered minor injuries. Passersby informed the police and shifted the trio to a nearby private hospital. Suvin was declared brought dead, said the police.

Meanwhile, Arundhati Reddy, a social activist, and her cab driver, who were heading towards the airport, escaped with minor injuries, when their car was hit in the serial accident. Reddy was subjected to first aid, while the cab driver escaped from the spot before the police arrived.

A senior police officer said, “The people who witnessed the incident informed that the car was speeding.”

“Sameer and Fayaz are in a state of shock and are yet to give their statements. We are checking the documents of the vehicle. If Sameer does not have a valid licence, then the owner of the car will be booked,” added the officer. A case has been registered at the Yelahanka traffic police station.
