If you are planning to instal a closed circuit TV camera in front of your house, keep your jurisdictional police station informed. It will not just help you monitor the happenings at your place, but also help policemen from the other end.

Police Commissioner B Dayananda, on Tuesday, launched ‘Operation Eagle’, a newly adopted surveillance system with private partnership at Nazarbad station.

Under the initiative, 25 CCTV cameras have been installed by interested residents at their own cost, in front of their houses in Siddhartha Nagar and surrounding localities, to keep round-the-clock vigil. Apart from the camera-equipped households, even the station personnel can monitor the happenings from the station.

Besides, six cameras have been installed in and outside the station, utilising department funds to ensure transparency in administration. The police commissioner told media, “By utilising technology, such initiatives will help curb crime and also identify and trace perpetrators. It will be gradually extended to other stations.”

The commissioner appealed to the residents to make use of the initiative, by joining hands with the police.

Visitor-friendly

That apart, Nazarbad station has been made visitor-friendly, by providing basic amenities like waiting lounge, drinking water, newspapers and periodicals among others. A LCD television has been installed in the lounge to screen awareness films on various types of crimes.

A dedicated property room has been built on the first floor to store the articles recovered in various cases. The facade has also been improved with glass covering and newly painted name boards of the station.DH News Service
