When honchos debated over business innovations

The two-day national conference on “Disruptive Innovations in Businesses – Lessons for Industry and Business Schools” at Reva University was inaugurated with enthusiasm and fanfare.

Top notch industry leaders deliberated on the theme. The chief guest of the inaugural event was Abhinay Choudhari, Co-founder of Bigbasket.com and Head of new initiatives. Through anecdotes he narrated how simple process innovations brought great customer value in his company.

The keynote speaker, Ranjan Malik, an innovation specialist and author of the book, “Storm the norm” explained vividly the five-step process of bringing innovations in organizations.

He narrated with simple stories how visionaries like Walt Disney realized the importance of failure which led to innovations. After all the three sequels on “pigs” bombed at the box office he had an epiphany that “Don’t top Pigs with Pigs” and went on to create the box office grosser “Snow white and the seven dwarfs”. During his presidential remarks, P Shyama Raju, the chancellor, stressed on how the varsity is employing process innovations in bringing customer value and creating responsible citizens.

During the panel discussion on “Empowering Employees – Disruptive Innovations in HR practices, the innumerable challenges and opportunities available in the workforce management today, was discussed.
