6 ultras attacked Pathankot base, says NSG

Last Updated 11 February 2016, 20:04 IST

Amid confusion over the number of terrorists who targeted the Pathankot airbase, the NSG on Thursday said security personnel found that two heavily armed terrorists were hiding inside the facility after four ultras were killed earlier in the operation.

“According to us, there were four plus two terrorists. But, it is for the investigating agency, the NIA to investigate and come up with factual details,” NSG Director General R C Tayal told reporters here.

With security agencies not able to recover the bodies of attackers other than the four first killed, there was no clarity on the number of terrorists who carried out the attack. Security forces had recovered four bodies of terrorists and there has been speculation about the possibility of some others getting killed and melting up in a building which was blown up by NSG.
