Perarivalan applies for parole

For the first time in his 25-year jail term, one of the life convicts in Rajiv Gandhi assassination case Perarivalan applied for a parole through his mother to see his ailing father.

His mother Arputhammal moved an application on Monday for parole to enable Perarivalan to care for her ailing husband, who also wants to meet him.

 In her petition, Arputhammal requested authorities to allow her son on parole since her husband Gnanasekaran (74) is critically ill and Perarivalan should be by his side."My husband is desperate to see his son. He needs Perarivalan to be by his side while he is sick", she said adding "hence, I have filed a petition requesting (her son's) release on parole''.
