Energy Efficiency Services Limited, which is in charge of the ‘Hosa Belaku’ project for sale of LED bulbs, has said that 23 lakh LED bulbs had been sold so far in the State.

The company has clarified that the prices of the bulbs were the same for all economic segments. A 9-watt LED bulb is being sold at Rs 100 apiece. The bulbs were being sold at designated stores, the company said, adding that illegal sale of LED bulbs at public places would be dealt with firmly.

The firm said that the use of LED bulbs was saving 67.5 megawatt of electricity each day. This amounts to a savings of Rs 30 lakh every day, the company has said.
