Members of the group ‘Playpen’ will present ‘9 Jakhoo Hill’ on March 5 and 6, 7.30 pm, at Jagriti Theatre, Whitefield and on March 12, 7.30 pm, at Chowdiah Memorial Hall, Malleswaram. The plays are part of the Deccan Herald Theatre Festival.

Written by Gurucharan Das, ‘9 Jakhoo Hill’ is a play about a family and their fierce loyalty and love for one another. Yet under this facade of respectability, they are dealing with their insecurities, anger and taboo subjects.

Three women and three men, spanning different age groups, play a very dangerous and perhaps an inevitable game of love, seduction, greed and manipulation.

‘9 Jakhoo Hill’ is set in Shimla.  The plot of the play is placed in 1962, when China invaded India and shattered the dream of the first Prime Minister.

Two families – one house owner and the other tenant migrate to India. It is realism at its best and tackles issues that every family goes through such as discontentment, frustration and jealousy. The play is directed by Ashish Sen with Rohn Malhotra, Ameet Bhuvan, Rubi Chakravarti, Munira Sen, Rakhi Bose and Mikhail Sen. Tickets are available at The Deccan Herald Office, the venues and on www.bookmyshow.com
