Flagging off the new service here at the Kempegowda Bus Station, Minister for Transport R Ashoka said the ultra luxury new mini-bus, built on a Isuzu-NQR chassis will ply in addition to the Vayu Vajra services to BIAL from different parts of the City.

“BMTC will ply the 23-seater bus on a trial basis for a month and based on public feedback will take a decision on its inclusion into the fleet and also introduction to other parts of the City. The recently concluded Bus Day has been a success. A proposal to make all State government employees in the City, to compulsorily commute using BMTC services on Bus Day has been submitted to the Chief Secretary and discussed as well. A government order (GO) on this is expected shortly,” Ashoka said.

Replying to queries from reporters, the minister further said he would also suggest to the Chief Minister and other cabinet colleagues to also opt for travel by BMTC services on the second Bus Day.

Bus Day on March 4

“Bus Day will again be observed on March 4 at Old Madras Road, Bannerghatta Road, HAL Road, Hosur Road and Sarjapur Road. An additional 150 buses will be put into service on the day. If the 20 percent of passengers who travelled on Bus Days switch over from their personal vehicle to public transportation, results will be evident,” he added.
