BJP urges Lieutenant Governor to probe Rs 400-cr tanker scam

A Delhi BJP team met Lieutenant Governor Najeeb Jung and submitted a memorandum seeking action over the Congress-era water tanker scam which city Minister Kapil Mishra raised in a letter to Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal.

Delhi BJP chief Satish Upadhyay met Jung and sought speedy action over the alleged Rs 400 crore scam unearthed by the AAP minister.

He also pointed to the content of Mishra’s letter to Kejriwal in which he expressed fears of losing his berth in the Cabinet and hinted at a possibility of destabilisation of the AAP government if action was taken against the culprits of the scam.

Upadhyay said Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal claims to be working on a agenda of zero tolerance for corruption but he has ignored Mishra’s letter on the scam.

Mishra, the then law minister,  wrote the letter on August last year citing findings of a inquiry committee report establishing that a Rs 400 crores water tanker scam took place in Delhi Jal Board dur-ing the tenure of Congress government led by Sheila Dikshit.

“No action has been ordered by the Chief Minister in the tanker scam  even after almost nine months,” said Upadhyay.

The BJP memorandum said the AAP government seems to have struck a deal with Dikshit or is afraid of proceeding against her.

“The people of Delhi have the right to know who is posing threat to Kejriwal cabinet in case it acts against corrupt deeds of the Congress government,” said Upadhyay.
