A day after Chief Minister Siddaramaiah slammed the BBMP officials over the pathetic condition of Mysuru Road and lack of monsoon preparedness, Mayor B N Manjunatha Reddy, along with BBMP Commissioner Manjunath Prasad, on Friday visited the flood-affected areas in the city.

He inspected the works taken up by the civic body to tackle rain-rlated problems.
The mayor gave a slew of directions to the Palike engineers and the officials.
Following the complaints by the residents of Kodi Chikkanahalli, Anugraha Layout, HSR Layout and Puttenahalli about the apathy of the officials manning Bommanahalli control room, the mayor visited the control room and suspended supervisor Chandrashekar Nayak for not discharging the duties properly.

He warned the officials of strict disciplinary action if they are found negligent and indifferent towards the civic problems. During his visit to JP Nagar, Jayanagar and surrounding areas, he directed the engineers to clear encroachment on stormwater drains and declog the feeder channels before the onset of monsoon.

He told reporters that three teams have been constituted to remove encroachment of stormwater drains in Bommanahalli zone. The mayor said that the contingency plan is in place to tackle rain-related problems.
