J'khand CM not cooperating with alcohol ban, says Nitish
Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar on Monday charged his Jharkhand counterpart Raghubar Das with not cooperating with his regime in enforcing prohibition of alcohol in Bihar.

“I have strictly enforced alcohol prohibition in Bihar. But when I was informed that some people cross the Bihar border and enter Jharkhand to consume liquor, I took up the matter with the Jharkhand chief minister. But he did not cooperate. Rather, he (Das) charged me with being power-drunk. “Kaha ki mujhe satta ka nasha hai”.

“I am not like BJP leaders who blow their own trumpet. They have won only in Assam, but the hype they are creating seems like they have won in all the five states that went to polls,” Nitish said at a JVM party meet in Ranchi.

Blaming the Narendra Modi-Amit Shah duo for trying to weaken their opponents, Nitish said, “Attempts are being made to bring JVM leaders into the BJP fold. It has always been the BJP’s tactic of splitting its opponents, much like in Arunachal Pradesh and Uttarakhand.”

“Had the Congress in Assam entered into an alliance with like-minded parties, similar to the Grand Alliance in Bihar, the BJP would not have come to power at all,” Nitish said.

Talking about how Jharkhand progressed under Babulal Marandi (first chief minister of Jharkhand from November 2000 to March 2003), Nitish said, “Marandi’s regime was known for good governance. It is similar to what we have in Bihar today, where police have booked the culprits in the Gaya and Siwan murder cases. Give me one example in any state where the police have acted so swiftly,” said Nitish.
