Two men died after consuming liquor at Kattagollahalli village near Mandur on the outskirts of the city on Monday.

The victims were identified as Muniraju, 41 and Ramanna, 62, both relatives and residents of Kattagollahalli. The two consumed liquor at an outlet near their house on May 18 and went to bed. The next day, both were found unconscious and their family members rushed them to a hospital, where they died, said the Avalahalli police.

The victims’ relative Raju lodged a complaint with the police who said they were verifying whether the outlet had sold spurious liquor. Three persons have died in the past month at Avalahalli after drinking liquor.

Local sources said owners of provision stores, ration shops and other outlets were selling liquor in the village.

The number of those consuming liquor, including women, has gone up in the past few months, said the police and added that they would raid all such places and take stringent action the suspects.
