Snags in paying property tax online

For the past two months I am trying to property pay tax online. I have also visited the help center to pay tax.  But I am not able to pay the tax because some of the fields in the form have been left empty and we cannot add or change them. Without any entry in the said fields the payment is impossible. The reason I came to know is that data uploaded by the Palike is not correct. Even the help center officials were unable to help. Though there is a WhatsApp number, they never communicate. The helpline is always busy. Calling the deputy commissioner is out of question because the call is disconnect the call or the line will be engaged.

Illegal activities at public park
The Palike park at Shivananda Circle has become a haven for illegal activities.  The said park is meant for local residents for walking, relaxing and for any kind of righteous usage. But this park is being utilised for illegal activities by a few miscreants. They indulge in drinking, smoking and blocking the walkways thereby, causing inconvenience to the residents in the area. Repeated complaints to the police have failed to elicit any response so far.

Ageing arch, a threat to road users
The arch erected at the Mysore Lamp Road near Yeshwantpur Circle next to the police station is all rusted and the whole structure is getting weaker by the day. The dilapidated structure is posing a big threat to the motorists and pedestrians below. The authorities concerned should act bring down the arch or get it repaired before it leads to a tragedy.

Delay in issue of property tax receipt
Last month, I went to the BBMP office at Sanjaynagar and within a few minutes, the staff generated a property tax challan and asked me to remit the amount in Canara Bank, Sanjaynagar. When I went to the bank, I had to wait for 45 minutes to pay the property tax by cash. Later, I was directed by the teller at the cash counter to collect the receipt from the officer. After another wait, the officer told me to come back after four-five days to collect the receipt. I fail to understand why the bank needs so much time to provide a receipt when property owners pay the tax by cash.

Slow security check-in at airport
Kempegowda International Airport’s efficiency in handling peak hours rush is questionable, especially when multiple carriers operate between 4 am and 7 am.

To add to the problems, there are not adequate men to manage the regular checks at the counter and the security check-in is a nightmare. I have often seen that the passengers are struggling to get through the slow serpentine security queue waiting for their clearance.
Neither the check-in staff nor the security staff are quick in responding to the question. I missed my flight by 30 seconds recently, in spite of reporting 80 minutes earlier at airport resulting in a huge personal loss. I have learnt that missing early morning flight is a regular phenomenon and this is something the airlines do it intentionally to earn quick bucks. A customer is at the receiving end because of the airlines’ lethargic work approach. The airport management’s incompetency leads to panic among passengers.

Potholes making lives miserable
I had registered a complaint with BBMP five months ago requesting it to fill potholes on 6th Main Road, Second Stage, Nagarabhavi - from Rambhavan Sweets point to Chetan PU College. The complaint was referred to Ward Engineer Nagaraj, then to Rudravadi and later to Veerabhadrappa who is the BBMP Joint Commissioner. All of them have promised to take action soon after rain recedes (in  November 2015). But now no one seems to be responsible to take action to fill up potholes with asphalt. I have raised this problem with area MLA Munirathna, but in vain. I request BBMP Commissioner Manjunatha Prasad to advise the officials for fillling potholes.

Water problem at Bharath Nagar
The residents of 5th Cross, Second Phase, Bharath Nagar, BEL Layout, are facing severe water problem. The problem has intensified in the last three to four years making life miserable for the citizens of this layout. Though Bharath Nagar-BEEHBCS Layout is approved by the BDA , we are deprived of BWSSB’s Cauvery water from the last 20-22 years. We are totally depending on private water tankers and are spending a huge amount of money on water. The assurances given by various politicians and residents’ welfare associations, have not borne any fruits so far.I request the BWSSB officials to take swift action and solve this problem.

Repair SWD in KR Garden layout
I represent the KR Garden Layout Residents’ Welfare Association. The stormwater drain (SWD) in our ward is in a pathetic state. When it rains, our houses are flooded damaging and all household articles. The SWD also poses serious health issues as the rainwater gets mixed with sewage water.  We are worried that we will face the same situation again with monsoon just round the corner. We have been writing to the commissioner as well and have since spoken to the executive engineer and health inspector. At present, there is no progress and it is our sincere request to the BBMP that the work be taken up on a priority basis. As residents, we are willing to help them in any possible way to make this happen.
