Summer vacations give children a break from everyday routine. But these vacations are not meant to sit ideal, children are expected to indulge in extracurricular activities and explore things in their spare time. To help parents in this mission, summer workshops, camps and carnivals are being organised in the capital where children can participate and learn while having fun.

On one side, where Warner Bros’ Tom and Jerry have come to the country for the first time to meet and interact with kids, on the other there are road safety camps that will be updating them on basics of road safety.

“Summer breaks are the best time for children to indulge in other activities and learn something which one cannot be taught through books. Therefore, these summer camps not only let them have fun but help them develop their skills,” says Pushpa Vector, vice president and head DLF Mall of India which has organised Tom and Jerry Kids Carnival.

Organiser of ‘Road Safety Summer Camp in Delhi’, Yadvinder Singh Guleria, senior vice president, sales and marketing, Honda says, “Our priority being ‘safety with fun’, children will get an opportunity to learn through new exciting educational games on road safety awareness. Attending this camp shall make these kids safety influencers in their families today and responsible adult road users of tomorrow.”

Other interesting activities like storytelling, magic classes, zumba classes, art and craft workshops, theatre workshop, hobby classes like ice-cream making, science-cosmic classroom, table etiquettes, dance classes, paper crafts, painting and fancy dress competitions are also being organised at different places. Acclaimed trainers like NBA (National Basketball Association) Jr. Coach Karan Baweja, world’s fastest pianist Dr. Aman Bhatla, Bollywood choreographer Shiamak Davar, master storyteller
Kamal Pruthi will be present at the Ambience Mall to engage kids.

“Every parent endeavours to provide their children with the best of opportunities that will help them evolve and become more confident and assertive in life. There are different activities that are tailored to aid learning, talent development, interactive and communication skills,” says Abhishek Bansal, executive director, Pacific Mall that has
organised “Planet Pacific’ summer camp.

For those who are interested in sports, there are workshops to teach children basketball, football and golf. Komal Mehra, events head, Usha International Limited, which has organised junior training programme for golf said, “One should instill an active lifestyle, especially for kids at their growing and learning stage. This is the time of the year when kids get to come out of their daily routine and get involved in their hobbies, one of which is sports.

We want more and more juniors to take up this training at the learning stages of their life.”

Special care and precautions have been taken by the organisers for the safety of tiny tots considering the heat.

“We have taken full responsibility of the kids this year as their parents can drop them at the mall in the morning and pick them up in evening. A healthy, balanced lunch, regular refreshments like water, juice and other refreshing drinks are arranged for
the kids to keep them well hydrated.”

Also, we have made special arrangements for security of children. Caretakers are there to take care of tiny tots and overlook and protect kids from harming themselves,” says Arjun Gehlot, director, Ambience Mall.
