<p>A speeding car killed a cook and injured his two friends who were travelling on a motorcycle in north west Delhi’s Rani Bagh area, the police said on Sunday.<br /><br /></p>.<p>Soon after the incident on Friday night, the driver of the car left the vehicle on the spot and escaped, the police said.<br /><br />Shakti (20), a cook, died on his way to hospital while his friends Rohit (23), and Sujan (24), were admitted to Safdarjung hospital in a critical condition, the police said.<br /><br />The police said Shakti, a native of Nepal, was working as a cook in Rani Bagh household.<br /><br />A witness told the police that the impact of the collision was so strong that the bike skidded on the road for a few metres before coming to a halt.<br /><br />"The injured remained on the road for 10-15 minutes till a passerby alerted the police control room for rushing in help," said a police official.<br /><br />“He was going for some work with his friends when the accident took place,” the police said.<br /><br />Shakti’s post-mortem was conducted in hospital and his body was handed over to his family members.<br /><br />A rash driving case was registered by the police and a search was launched for the driver of the abandoned car.<br /><br />“We are scanning through the transport department’s records to identify the owner of the offending vehicle,” said an investigator.<br /><br />Motorists turn violent<br /><br />In a separate incident, an argument between two motorists turned violent in east Delhi’s Sonia Vihar area on Saturday evening.<br /><br />Kanta Prasad, a Sadar Bazar businessman living in Sonia Vihar, was beaten up by a youth and his friends, the police said. The accused sped away after leaving Prasad injured on the road, the police said.<br /><br />The argument started after Prasad asked the youth not to touch his vehicle with his bike while stopping on red lights near Third Pushta in Sonia Vihar, the police said.<br /><br />The youth was angered by Prasad shouting at him and called in his friends before beating up the traders, the police said.<br /><br />Prasad told police, the accused picked up sticks from road side and a big spoon from an eatery before delivering blows on his arm, head and back. The police said Prasad was taken to Jagparvesh Chand Hospital for treatment and a case of causing hurt was registered.</p>
