The incumbent Chairman of the Railway board is retiring this month, and it seems like there are no eligible candidate to take the post after him. A K Mittal is the current chairman.
“There is no officer in the Railways who fulfils all the conditions to be considered for the top post in the Railway Ministry,” an official told DH.
According to the procedure for appointment, a member of the board has to have at least one year of service left before retirement to be considered for the post.
