Two more held in Carlton Towers fire

The arrested were identified as Shyam Kedari (45), former secretary of Carlton Towers Owners Association and Deepak Kaphi (50) former treasurer of the association. Kedari is a resident of Basanagar, while Kaphi is from Koramangala.

The police are likely to arrest another five persons very soon. The two teams are busy investigating the accident. The police are also verifying certain details they have received.
The police arrested Raifque-ur-Rehman (45), the association secretary, Ramachandra Bhandari, Carlotn Towers security in charge, Kempegowda, Towers administrative and electrical supervising officer and Chennaiah, building maintenance officer on February 27.

DySP caught red-handed
A deputy superintendent of police attached to CID (Fraud Investigation Squad) was on Wednesday evening caught red handed by Lokayukta sleuths at his office when he was receiving bribe. The sleuths arrested H L Nagaraj and recovered Rs 5,000 bribe amount.
Nagaraj was heading an investigation team constituted to look into allegations against an employee of Treasury department for creating fake bills to make money. He demanded Rs 5,000 bribe from the employee, Girija, to give her a clean chit. Nagaraj had threatened to ensure punishment if she failed to bribe him. Girija’s husband, Somashekhar, lodged a complaint with the Lokayukta who decided to trap the DySP. As per Nagaraj’s directive, Somashekhar met him at his office on Wednesday evening and handed over the money. The Lokayukta sleuths entered Nagaraj’s office when he was receiving the money and arrested him.
