Two men, who were part of a gang plotting to attack a person, were thrashed to death by the rival gang. The incident took place at Sadduguntepalya in Kumarswamy Layout on Sunday evening.

According to the police, the deceased have been identified as Aslam (33) and Asghar (32), residents of Siddapura.

On Sunday evening, Aslam, Asghar and seven others, all residents of Siddapura, were planning to attack Afzal at Sadduguntepalya.

Afzal and his firends pre-empted it and caught hold of Aslam and Asghar while the others fled the spot. They hit the duo with hollow bricks and iron rods. The Kumaraswamy Layout police rushed to the spot. After noticing the police, Afzal’s friends fled the spot. Asgar and Aslam were shifted to a nearby private hospital where Asghar was declared brought dead and Aslam died a while later.

The preliminary investigation revealed that Aslam used to lend money at exorbitant rate of interest to locals at Sadduguntepalya

A few locals had complained to Afzal about Aslam. Afzal and his friends had warned Aslam and asked him to stop troubling the people. Around three months back, Aslam shifted to Siddapura. He nursed a grudge against Afzal and decided to hack him to death.

On Sunday evening, they planned to carry out the attack. Even before they could execute their plans, Aslam and his accomplices were rounded up by Afzal’s friends.

Afzal’s friends attacked Aslam and Asghar with bricks and rods, said the police. A case has been registered in Kumaraswamy Layout police station and investigation is being carried out.

Painter assaulted
In a drunken brawl, a 35-year-old painter was assaulted by his neighbour over a trivial issue at Vinayaka Nagar in Wilson Garden on Sunday.

According to the police, the victim, Prabhu, suffered serious injuries on his right hand and is undergoing treatment in a private hospital.

The suspect, Appu, a labourer, is currently absconding.

Around 2 pm, Prabhu went to the Shanthi Nagar cemetery to attend a relative’s funeral. Appu was also present at the funeral and picked up a fight with Prabhu.

The family members and friends of Prabhu intervened and calmed them.

Around 7 pm, they went home and again Appu and Prabhu argued over a trivial issue. In a fit of rage, Appu took a machete and hit Prabhu’s right hand, said the police.

Hearing Prabhu’s screams, neighbours rushed to his help while Appu took to his heels. Prabhu was shifted to a private hospital and the Wilson Garden police were informed about the incident.

Both of them were in an inebriated state, which resulted in the fight, added the police.
A case has been registered by the police in this connection.  Steps have been taken
to trace Appu, the police added.
