The High Court on Monday disposed of a petition filed by Opposition leader in the Legislative Council, K S Eshwarappa, his son K E Kantesh and daughter-in-law Shalini seeking quashing of proceedings against them in the Lokayukta Special Court, Shivamogga.

Eshwarappa and his family approached the High Court seeking quashing of the proceedings against them on the ground that the Lokayukta Special Court which is conducting the proceedings, had not taken a sworn statement of the complainant. Justice Anand Byrareddy directed the Lokayukta Special Court to record the sworn statement of the complainant and go ahead with the proceedings.

Vinod Kumar M, an advocate had filed a private complaint with the Lokayukta police against Eshwarappa and two of his family members stating that the BJP leader had purchased assets worth crores of rupees disproportionate to his known sources of income in the name of his family members by abusing his position.
