51-yr-old arrested for raping 7-yr-old

The RT Nagar police have arrested a 51-year-old security guard of a private apartment for sexually assaulting a seven-year-old girl on Thursday. The suspect has been identified as Srinivas Rao. In the morning, he took the minor girl to his house on the pretext of giving her chocolates and assaulted her sexually.

Hearing her screams, the neighbours gathered in front of the house. When the girl was asked by the neighbours as to why she was crying, she narrated the incident to them. They thrashed Rao and handed him over to the police. Based on the complaint filed by the victim’s parents, a Pocso case has been registered and Rao has been arrested, the police said.

Man dies in accident
A 32-year-old man was killed in a road accident at Siddapura Junction near Lalbagh in the early hours of Thursday. According to the police, the deceased is Naveen Kumar, a resident of Bannerghatta Road and an employee of a private company in Jayanagar. At around 3 am, he was returning home after attending an Ganesha immersion event in Cubbonpet when the incident occurred. A few passersby found Kumar lying in a pool of blood. They alerted the Wilson Garden traffic police who shifted him to Nimhans, where he was declared brought dead.

His bike was found damaged and it is suspected that he might have hit the median and sustained injuries or an unknown vehicle might have knocked down Kumar. The CCTV footage is being examined to ascertain the cause of death, said the police.
