<p>The High Court on Thursday granted a stay on the proceedings initiated against former chief minister H D Kumaraswamy. Kumaraswamy had approached the court to quash proceedings against him in the Judicial Magistrate First Class (JMFC) court in Chikkaballapur during the 2014 elections.<br /><br /></p>.<p>The complainant, S S Abid had lodged a complaint against Kumaraswamy accusing him of blocking the road and causing inconvenience to the public during the 2014 election campaign. <br /><br />Abid had lodged the complaint before the Chikkaballapur town police. Senior counsel, D L Jagadeesh, appearing for the petitioner, contended that registering a complaint in the police station is bad in law.
