Lokayukta cops raid 2 govt officials' houses

Speaking to Deccan Herald, Lokayukta DySP of Udupi Prabhudev Mane informed that Lokayukta team under Mangalore DySP Vernekar raided the house of N T Rajgopal who is an Executive Engineer at Minor Irrigation at Kinnimulky on  Thursday and found Rs 30,000 cash, 600 gram gold and 3 Kg silver jewellery besides 3 four-wheelers.

He said that Rajgopal has buildings in his wife’s and daughter’s name in Chanthyaru village near Brahmavar and another in J H Patel extension in Shimoga. The total value of these was estimated at around Rs 96.76 lakh excluding value of three four-wheelers which is worth Rs 26 lakh, he added.  During the search, the team has also recovered a locker key of a bank. The locker was yet to be opened to find possession of valuable documents or other things, he said.

Another team led by Dy SP Prabhudev Mane himself raided the house of Udupi Sub Registrar Parameshwar and found Rs 92,500 cash and gold and silver worth Rs 2 lakh. The value of the house owned by Parameshwar was valued at Rs 15 lakh. He said that the raids were conducted under the supervision of Karwar Lokayukta SP A H Savanoor.
