An adamant Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav turned down the truce formula with the rival faction of the Samajwadi Party.

According to the formula proposed by a senior leader, Akhilesh was promised a free hand in ticket distribution and would be made chairman of the parliamentary board. However, he had to accommodate his father Mulayam Singh Yadav as the party president.

“He refused the proposal. Such behaviour was not expected from him. It could be because he thought Mulayam might be manipulated by (party leader) Amar Singh or (Mulayam’s brother) Shivpal Yadav,” an SP source told DH.

According to the source, a few other options were also put forth, but the chief minister turned them down. One of them was the removal of Mulayam’s other brother Ram Gopal Yadav along with Amar and Shivpal.

“Akhilesh rejected it outright. He was not prepared to accept any of the proposals because the support he received in the party was huge, and there was no need for him to consider any of those options,” the source said.
