The state government has dropped three names from among 36 senior KAS officers which it had recommended to the Centre for promotion to the IAS. The state had recently sent the 36 names to the Department of Personnel and Training (DoPT) and a copy had been marked to the Union Public Service Commission.
It was found that the Lokayukta had conducted raids on some of the officers and assets disproportionate to their known sources of income were recovered. The DoPT wrote to the state seeking more information.
The state government wrote back saying that three officers - Nagaraj, Rajamma Chowda Reddy and Mahantesh Bilagi - were facing a Lokayukta investigation and their names be dropped from the promotion list, official sources said.
