JOIN USAddressing the gathering after laying the foundation-stone for bank note currency paper printing press at the premises of RBI Note Mudranalay Private Limited here, he said a high-level review committee has been constituted and one of the terms of reference given to the committee was to suggest a road map to achieve ingenuity in printing notes.
“I am eagerly awaiting the report. Once it is submitted, it will be discussed with the Reserve Bank of India before implementation,” he said. The Union Minister hoped that this would go a long way in checking counterfeit notes and added that both the Government and the RBI would draw a time bound programme to achieve this.
Mukherjee said the time had come for the setting of an indigenous Research and Development Institute that would carry out research activities and stay tuned to the innovations in the field of currency printing and its security aspects.
