Four years after seeking sanction to prosecute tainted government servant S C Jayachandra, the state government finally cleared it on Wednesday.
Jayachandra, raided by the income tax officials immediately after the demonetisation on November 8, 2016, was raided by the Lokayukta police in 2008 for possessing assets disproportionate to his known sources of income.
After a detailed investigation, the Lokayukta police had prepared a final report. The investigation proved that the official possessed assets worth Rs 2.02 crore disproportionate to his known sources of income on the date of the raid. Though communication seeking sanction was sent to the Principal Secretary, DPAR, on April 23, 2012, the order was not cleared.
