IISc attack suspect brought to Bengaluru

Habib Mia (37), a suspect in the 2005 terror attack at the Indian Institute of Science (IISc), was brought to the city by a special team of Bengaluru police on Sunday. He was produced before the magistrate and remanded in police custody till March 27.

“The CCB team sought Mia’s custody from the local court at Agartala and he was brought to the city,” Police Commissioner Praveen Sood said.

Based on inputs by the Karnataka police, the Tripura police detained Mia from Jogendranagar area near Agartala on Friday. The police would interrogate Mia about his involvement in the attack and the whereabouts of the prime suspect Abu Hamza, who is said to be hiding in Pakistan.

Prof Munish Chandra Puri of IIT Delhi was killed in the terror attack on IISc on December 28, 2005.
