Geetha Mahadev Prasad (M C Mohanakumari), wife of late minister H S Mahadev Prasad, on Sunday, took a dig at Mysuru-Kodagu MP Pratap Simha for his remarks on her candidature for the by-election to Gundlupet Assembly segment.

During an election campaign in the constituency, Geetha said, “MP Pratap Simha has once again proved that BJP has no respect for women by making humiliating comments against me. The MP’s remarks are an insult to women and they will teach the party a lesson in the by-election,” she added.

It may be mentioned that Pratap Simha, during a campaign on Saturday, had said that Geetha Prasad is contesting the by-election for greed of power. “She enjoyed all the powers when her husband was a minister. Soon after performing the final rituals of Mahadev Prasad, Geetha has joined politics in pursuit of power,” the MP had said.

Former minister and BJP leader M P Renukacharya, during his campaign for BJP candidate C S Niranjan Kumar, also targeted Geetha saying she should not have contested the election immediately after the death of her husband Mahadev Prasad. “Congress party leaders chose Geetha as candidate to capitalise on sympathy votes,” said Renukacharya. BJP MLA C T Ravi was present.

Cong warns of protest
Congress party leaders, including Mysuru former Zilla Panchayat president Pushpa Amarnath among others, threatened to launch a protest against BJP leaders for their remarks against Geetha Prasad. Pushpa Amarnath demanded apology from the MP and said that Pratap Simha has been targetting women, and BJP leaders have no respect for women. She said, “We would launch a protest against the MP if he does not seek apology.”
