Delhi gain a confidence booster

Delhi Daredevils allrounder Corey Anderson was delighted to begin their home campaign with a win and said their 51-run victory over Kings XI Punjab would provide the much needed confidence.

“It was really important for us to start our home season on a high and that is why I believe that this win is special for us. It was a great team effort and everyone did their part brilliantly. I believe this is the kind of win that defines Delhi Daredevils as a team,” Anderson said on Saturday.

“The wicket was on the slower side today and we wanted to post a good total for our bowlers to defend. It was brilliant when we ended up with a score of 188. That gave the team a lot of confidence.”

Daredevils' scoring was propped up by Sam Billings’ half century before Anderson provided the late thrust with 39 off 22 balls. He later took the crucial wicket of David Miller to earn the man of  the match award.

“It was a great performance by everyone in the team. Sam (Billings) and Sanju (Samson) gave us a great start and the bowlers were brilliant once again. I am happy that I was able to play my part as a bowling all-rounder and I hope that we will be able to continue this run of form,” said the New Zealander.

Kings' captain Glenn Maxwell didn’t mince words in analysing their defeat against Daredevils. “The weaknesses tonight were basically everything. Batting, bowling, fielding; everything was pretty average,” he said.
