Last Updated 08 May 2017, 19:40 IST

A committee of experts has been constituted to look into the pros and cons of introducing an integrated police force in Karnataka, said Director General and Inspector General of Police, Rupak Kumar Dutta.

“In Karnataka, different processes are being followed for recruitment to various police forces such as civil police, District Armed Reserve and Karnataka State Reserve Police. The integrated police force will address this issue. Tamil Nadu and Kerala have already introduced this system,” Dutta told reporters here on Monday.

He said a revised proposal on setting up a police commissionerate in Kalaburagi had been submitted to the Home department. “The formation of the commissionerate will help have a direct link between patrolling  teams and control room and to check crimes.”
