CM accuses BSY of double standards

Last Updated 21 May 2017, 20:22 IST

Chief Minister Siddaramaiah on Sunday accused BJP leader B S Yeddyurappa of double standards on the issue of farm loan waiver in the state.

“He (Yeddyurappa) had openly stated that he cannot waive of farm loan when he was the chief minister. But now he is insisting that the government do it. Is it not double standards?” he asked while reacting to the BJP’s demand for farm loan waiver.

He was speaking after offering tribute to the late Rajiv Gandhi on his 26th death anniversary at the Karnataka Pradesh Congress Committee (KPCC) office here. He also accused the BJP leaders of indulging in politics in the name of farmers. Yeddyurappa is trying to mislead people of the state on the issue of loan waiver. “I never ridiculed the BJP leaders for taking up drought study tour. I only suggested that they should instead go to Delhi and urge the Prime Minister to waive farm loan,” he added.

KPCC president Parameshwara said the BJP leaders should be ashamed of themselves for reportedly eating idlis and vadas brought from a local hotel at the  house of a Dalit in Gubbi taluk of Tumakuru district recently.
