The High Court of Karnataka on Thursday directed the authorities performing quasi-judicial functions to expedite hearings and decide cases within six months from the time the case comes up for oral arguments.

Justice A N Venugopala Gowda passed an order with regard to quasi-judicial authorities in disposing of matters before them and directed them to web host the proceedings of the cases and the final orders promptly.

The judge directed the chief secretary to take necessary measures to provide the hardware and the required software to all quasi-judicial authorities within four months. He said steps should be taken to train the personnel in avoiding delays in hearing cases and promote expeditious disposal of cases.

Justice Gowda also directed nodal officers to oversee the functioning of quasi-judicial authorities. Any deficiency should be brought to the notice of the Principal Secretary of the department concerned and the Chief Secretary.
