Joshna-Dipika win International Doubles Squash Championship

The Indian pair humbled Urquhart (world number 20) and Brown (world number 10) 11-10 3-11 11-10 in a 72-minute thriller on Wednesday night.The Indians clinched two games via sudden-death. Though, the Aussies dominated the match for most part, the Indians played the big points better especially Dipika was sharp in the decider.

On Tuesday, Chinappa and Pallikal had defeated top seeds and world number three England's Jenny Duncalf and Alison Waters 6-11 11-8 11-4 for a place in the summit round. The English pair had won a medal in the 2006 Commonwealth Games.

This event was sanctioned and supported under the scheme "Preparation of core probables for the Commonwealth Games 2010" to be held here from October 3 to 14.In the quarterfinals, Chinappa and Pallikal had upset another English combination of Dominic Lloyd Waters and Laura Briggs 11-4 11-9.

Meanwhile, Chinappa and Harinder Pal Singh got the better of Australians Melody Francis and Ryan Cuskelly 2-1 to enter semifinal of the mixed doubles category but then crashed out at the final-four round.They went down 0-2 to James Willstrop and Jenny Duncalf.
Saurav Ghosal and Pallikal were edged out 0-2 by Nick Matthew and Allison Waters in mixed doubles quarterfinals.In the men's events, Ghosal and Harinder finished 8th, Ritwik Bhattacharya and Sandeep Jangra finished 11th and Gaurav Nandrajog and Siddharth Suchde finished 14th.
