Marumalarchi Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (MDMK) chief Vaiko, a sympathiser of Liberation Tigers of Tamil Eelam (LTTE), was detained at Malaysia airport with authorities there denied entry into their nation.

Vaiko was on a trip to Malaysia to participate in the marriage of Penang deputy chief minister Ramasamy, which was scheduled on June 10.

A statement released by MDMK here on Friday said that Vaiko, who obtained the visa, was denied entry into Malaysia today morning when he landed at the Kuala Lumpur International airport.

The party also said that Vaiko was questioned by the airport officials about his alleged links with LTTE. "His (Vaiko) passport was also seized", the MDMK said.
