No comments allowed against Army chief: Rahul

Congress vice president Rahul Gandhi on Monday said politicians should not make comments against the Army chief, snubbing his own party leader Sandeep Dikshit for his controversial remark on General Bipin Rawat.

“He (Gen Rawat) is the chief of our Army. I think there is no need for politicians to comment...The Army is for all of us. There is no need to talk about the army chief,” he stated, while addressing the extended KPCC general body meeting here.  Dikshit’s reported remark that “Army chief speaks like a roadside thug” had kicked off a political storm with the BJP taking strong exception.

Rahul also vetoed discussion on the “chaturbaniya” remark against Mahatma Gandhi by BJP president Amit
Shah, which has also set off a row. The Congress leader hit out at the Narendra Modi government for failing to fulfill its promise of creating jobs. “The biggest problem today is jobs for youth. He (Modi) had promised to create 2 crore jobs a year...40 % is the passing marks. Modi has scored zero in this regard...The unemployment rate is the highest in the country,” he added.
