Amidst speculations that the state government might advance the Assembly elections to December this year, Chief Minister Siddaramaiah on Sunday said the polls would be held in April or May 2018.

Speaking to reporters before attending a programme to lay foundation stone for various development works in the city, Siddaramaiah said the BJP leaders are unnecessarily creating confusion about the polls. But the elections will be held as per the schedule. He rubbished BJP state president B S Yeddyurappa’s prediction that the elections would be advanced.

Siddaramaiah said the Congress is prepared to face the elections and the process of forming booth level committees was under progress.
