The talented actor dons many other caps too — that of a dancer, an adventure freak and a singer.<br /><br />In a conversation with Surupasree Sarmmah, she talks about her tryst with acting, her love for singing and the challenges she faced in the industry.<br /><br /><br />You are returning to television after a long break — what is going on in your mind at this moment?<br /><br />I worked until the eighth month of my pregnancy, so it is not really a comeback. I had just taken a short medical break for a few months. I am doing a cameo in this show and I believe this is the best way forward for now.<br /><br />A cameo will be the best thing to start with, just to see how much I can handle. I am taking my baby to the set as he is too small and I can’t leave him at home. So it will be a good chance to see how much he can adapt to this too. <br /><br /><br />How did acting come your way?<br /><br />I actually did a short film for a friend of mine long ago. One of my then co-actor’s friend was the one who did the casting for ‘Afsar Bitiya’. He showed my picture to his friend and that’s how I got the role. Since it was a good role, I also agreed. I have always felt that I had to be in front of the camera, whether for singing or acting.<br /><br /><br />Any particular type of serials you would like to work in...<br /><br />‘Afsar Bitiya’ was a dream break. I would love to take up similar roles that are inspirational and will leave an impact on people.<br /><br /><br />The biggest challenge in the industry...<br /><br />The fact that people try to typecast you makes it difficult for an actor to different roles. Thankfully, I don’t face that issue anymore. I have been offered a couple of very good roles so far. <br /><br /><br />Anything that you wish to change in the industry...<br /><br />I would definitely like to do away with the daily soaps. The format has become <br />popular of late but what I am really fond of the seasonal shows that are making its way into the industry. <br /><br /><br />Your life’s philosophy...<br /><br />‘Live and let live’. <br /><br /><br />Any Bollywood aspirations?<br /><br />Definitely. Not just Bollywood, I have aspirations of going all the way to Hollywood and making my country proud.<br /><br /><br />An actor you would like to work with...<br /><br />Nawazuddin Siddiqui. Also, I have a crush on Ranbir Kapoor (laughs). <br /><br /><br />How do you spend your time when you are not working?<br /><br />At the moment, it is my baby who takes all my undivided attention. Otherwise, I like listening to music as well as watching Western shows, as I get to learn a lot about acting from these. I also watch a lot of Indian classics. I am a good cook, so I sometimes cook as well.<br /><br /><br />What are your other interests?<br /><br />I am an adventurous person. Travel plays an important part in my life.
