Rajasthani filmmaker claims Toilet- Ek Prem Katha makers copied his song

The director and producer of an upcoming film Toilet: Ek Prem Katha has been accused of plagiarism by a Rajasthan filmmaker who alleges that the punchline of the film has been lifted from the lyrics of a song filmed in the movie Laadli. In the film Akshay Kumar and Bhumi Pednekar's are playing the lead role.

According to the Rajasthani film maker Vipin Tiwari the film has a punchline 'Has Mat Pagli Pyar ho jaye ga' is the exact copy of the song in his Laadli.  Tiwari has sent a legal notice to  accusing them of violating the Copyright Act. He has also marked a copy of the complaint to the Indian Film and TV Producers Council (IFTPC), which in turn has sought a clarification from Neeraj Pandey, the-producer of Toilet: Ek Prem Katha. The IFTPC has asked Pandey to submit a reply to Tiwari's petition within three days. In case if he fails to revert  then the disputes settlement committee will look into the matter.

Jaipur based film maker Tiwari who wants song to be removed told media, "We were shocked to see similar lyrics used by the director of Toilet: Ek Prem Katha. Picturisation of the song we have already used in our movie Laadli has been replicated in the movie. The team should have informed us even if they wanted to replicate something. But now we want the removal of the scene.

The movie slated for the release on August 11, was earlier also caught into controversy when Udaipur based  director of a documentary titled Manini alleged that that the film makers had plagiarised scenes. He also sent the team a legal notice. Film is based on Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s ambitious Swacch Bharat Mission, which aims to declare India open defecation free by 2019.
