The Karnataka Secondary Education Examination Board on Thursday announced results of Class X (SSLC) supplementary examinations held in June 2017. The results will be displayed at the respective schools around 12 noon on Friday.

“Overall performance has been pretty good as the pass percentage has gone up to 50.81 % from 26.07 % last year,” Primary and Secondary Education Minister Tanveer Sait told reporters.

Girls’ overall pass percentage is 55.88 %, while that of boys was 47.90 %, he said.

The government has extended the date for admissions to various streams in PUC for those who have cleared the supplementary examinations.

“Admission will be open for those who have cleared supplementary exams till July 31 without fine. However, for those who cleared the Class X exams in April, the admissions are open till July 31 with fine,” Sait said.

According to the minister, the improved performance of students in the Class X examinations this year, including five students scoring 625 marks out of 625 marks, was due to the early announcement of examination dates.

“We announced the examination dates in December 2016 which ensured seriousness among students, teachers and parents. Moreover, the department avoided mistakes in question papers. These measures paid off," he said.

Regarding schools registering zero pass percentage, the minister said the government had already slapped notices on such schools seeking explanation.

“The government has withdrawn increment to teachers in government schools. We have issued notices to private schools to ascertain if infrastructure-related issues resulted in zero pass percentage,” he said.
