Exploring sensitive themes

Kriyative Theatre, in collaboration with Serbian performer Kristian Al-Droubi, recently performed ‘Where the Shadow Ends’ at the 44th International Festival of Alternative and New Theatre in Serbia.

The play was also a part of the Belgrade Summer Festival (BELEF). The play is a contemporary interpretation of an epic story. The narrative travels through myths and history that are common across cultures, and looks at how myths have turned into history and shaped the moral fabric of societies across the world. It explores a South Asian epic story and finds similar stories that exist in Serbia and across cultures. The play is a devised performance, with the final script prepared by Shreekantha Rao.

The concept, design, choreography and direction are by Veena Basavarajaiah. The original music is composed by Mahesh Swamy and Tejas Shankar. The actors are Laxmi Chandrashekar, Preethi Bharadwaj, Vinaychandra and Serbian actor, Kristian Al Droubi.
