I-T dept approaches HC in Soudha cash case

The Income Tax Department approached the High Court of Karnataka on Tuesday seeking directions to get possession of Rs 1.97 crore found in an advocate’s car in Vidhana Soudha.

H M Siddhartha, the advocate, was arrested and a probe was initiated against him after Rs 1.97 crore in cash was found inside his car on Vidhana Soudha premises in October 2016. The advocate had approached the High Court seeking quashing of the proceedings against him. Sidhartha's counsel had expressed no objection to hand over the amount to the I-T department. Justice Aravinda Kumar directed the state government to file its objections and adjourned the next hearing until August 16.
