Titan enters US through Amazon

Last Updated 08 August 2017, 19:51 IST
Ecommerce giant Amazon on Tuesday announced its partnership with iconic homegrown lifestyle brand Titan to help it foray into the US market through its Global Selling Programme.
With 500 SKUs across Titan and Fastrack, Titan Company will be using Amazon's flagship 'Fulfillment by Amazon' platform to sell in the US.

Given the expanse of the Indian diaspora in the US and the festival season ready to kick-off, the US stands to offer a burgeoning market for Titan.

Amazon India Director and General Manager (Seller Services) Gopal Pillai said, "We are very excited to be taking Titan, a brand that resonates with India and 'Make in India' across borders. After the US, we intend to launch it in the EU and Japan."

Titan Company CEO (Watches and Accessories) S Ravikant said, "This initiative is not simply about taking Titan to the US, but about taking India to the US. Somewhere under the sun, a Titan is sold every three seconds, and with this association, we will be moving at a much faster pace."

Titan Company has handpicked 500 SKUs, which have been performing well across its 30 international markets, to launch in the US. The Indian watch leader, which is completing 30 successful years of operations this year, has its biggest market in India, and exports less than 10% of its output.

Titan watches are estimated to be priced in the mid-range of $30-$300 in the US. While it is starting off with watches in the US, the company will soon introduce its accessories range under both brands -- Titan and Fastrack. "While it may be too early to comment, we intend to take many Titan brands to the US, including Tanishq. It may even happen within a year," said Ravikant.

Launched in India in May 2015, Amazon’s Global Selling Programme facilitates easy, simple and convenient access for all Indian sellers - including entrepreneurs, SMEs, manufacturers as well as large brands – to sell their products to consumers across the globe.
