BBMP removed optical fibre cables from Cunningham Road on Monday after private companies failed to take them off.
Vijay Kumar, Executive Engineer (Optical Fibre Cables), BBMP, said the companies failed to remove the cables despite being served several notices. “Since they failed to abide by the rules, we had to resort to this step,” he said. “We removed 300-400 metres of cables by afternoon.”
The BBMP plans to remove the cables from all TenderSURE roads in the central business district (CBD). Residency Road would be rid of the cables on Wednesday. St Mark’s Road and Vittal Mallya Road will come later, Kumar said.
