The North division police on Thursday grilled Santosh, who is charged with attempting to kidnap BJP leader K S Eshwarappa’s personal assistant Vinay.

Santosh, the prime accused in the kidnap bid case, is an aide and a relative of BJP state president B S Yeddyurappa.

Assistant Commissioner of Police Anand S Badiger, along with two inspectors, grilled Santosh for over eight hours at the office of ACP (Malleswaram sub-division).  Santosh appeared before the investigating officer with his advocate.

According to police, Santosh initially denied identifying Rajendra Urs, who led the gang to abduct Vinay. But when the police confronted him with call detail records (CDR) and photographs, he admitted knowing him personally. Soon the police began grilling him to ascertain his exact role in the entire plot.

“We have evidence to prove that he is the prime accused and was in regular touch with the other accused involved in the kidnap bid,” a senior police officer said.

He added that Santosh had plotted the kidnap to take away an ‘incriminating document’ from Vinay. Meanwhile, the police are on the massive manhunt for a rowdy, who was also the part of the abduction bid.
