<p>Three undertrials lodged in the sub-jail at Chikkodi in the district escaped by removing the stones of the rear wall of the jail in the wee hours of Saturday.<br /><br />The escapees are Sharad Pawar from Miraj in Maharashtra, Neetin Jadhav from Galataga in Chikkodi taluk and Ashok Bhosale from Kohalli village in Athani taluk.<br /><br />The undertrials had been arrested on charges of dacoity, burglary and thefts. Police suspect that the undertrials escaped between 1.30 am and 4 am. They have launched an operation to nab the undertrials.<br /> <br />Two constables G K Kamble and Suresh Holigar, who had been deployed to guard the sub-jail, have been suspended for dereliction of duty. The Chikkodi police have registered a case.<br /><br /></p>
