<p>Squadron Leader Ajjamada Devaiah was a brave soldier, former minister M C Nanaiah said.<br /><br />At a commemoration programme organised by Kodava Makkada Koota and Ajjamada family at Kodava Samaja in Madikeri on Thursday, Nanaiah said that, “Ajjamada Devaiah had fought against Pakistan. Even though he had an opportunity to escape, he did not do so because he wanted to protect other soldiers and sacrificed his life for the sake of the country.”<br /><br />“Even though nobody wants war, when it comes to the security of the nation, one has to defend the country from its enemies,” he said and added that if at all a war is to happen in future, it would be for water.<br /><br />Members of Legislative Council Sunil Subramani and Veena Acchaiah, Deputy Commissioner Dr Richard Vincent D’Souza, Superintendent of Police P Rajendra Prasad, District Working Journalists’ Association president Ajjamada Ramesh Kuttappa, Kodava Makkada Koota president Bollajira Ayyappa and retired colonel K C Subbaiah were present.<br /><br />Two books ‘1965 Yuddha’ and ‘Kodagina Veerayodha’ were released on the occasion.<br /><br />Floral tributes were offered to the portrait of Ajjamada Devaiah at the circle named after him. The circle is near the city private bus stand. A procession was also taken out later.</p>
